We are writing to you all to update you on the SMJFL and Caulfield Bears JFC actions regarding the current coronavirus outbreak.
The SMJFL has made the call now to suspend all training for clubs, umpires and all other league programs, including practice matches and social gathering events, to be effective immediately, until further notice.
Hence, we have postponed all planned Caulfield Bears JFC activities until further notice. This includes all pre-season training, the coaches' workshop on 22 March, and the practice match with Murrumbeena JFC on 29 March.
Our main priority remains the health and wellbeing of all players, coaches, umpires and volunteers of the club and league. The league strongly believes that the suspension of these gatherings will minimise the risks posed to all within our club and league.
Round One of the SMJFL is presently scheduled for Sunday 19 April 2020 (in five weeks' time).
The league is hopeful that the season will be able to proceed as planned, but are preparing to take necessary precautions as advised by the Australian Government and the AFL. These precautions may involve a delay to the beginning of the 2020 SMJFL season.
We will let you know as soon as possible if there are further changes to the season's start. In the meantime, please contact Peter, Shane or Matt with any further questions.
